How to Develop Your Own Acne Diet

An acne diet is a very interesting idea. After all, who has not heard the saying that chocolate gives you pimples? I believe we all have. So it doesn't seem so crazy that by watching what you eat could prevent a break out.

However, an acne diet can be a hard thing to develop. Being based on your body's responses to certain foods makes it very personal. Progress, for the most part, will be trial and error. Watch your skin carefully. Keep a journal. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. If and when your skin clears, stick to the diet that you were using at that time.

The following are some easy guidelines to help get you started on an acne diet:

* Eat more protein - Some dermatologists believe that protein is associated with clearer skin. An enzyme in contained in protein limits the creation of oil Oily skin seems to be extremely prone to breakouts.

* Don't eat carbs - Do not take all carbs out of your diet. But you do need to limit them so that they are only about 40 percent of your diet. This is because carbohydrates can stimulate oil production. This is why junk food has a reputation for causing acne. Actually it is just that junk food is high in carbs.

* Drinking green tea is very good for you - If you can, drink real green tea. The best kind of green tea is the kind you brew yourself. You may not like the real stuff so the green tea drinks will work. Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Breakouts can be caused by the hormone called androgen.

* You must restrict the amount of salt you take in - Salt usually contains iodine. This is why table salt is usually called “iodized salt.” Iodine can be one of the biggest inflammatory agents in people with acne.

It is very important to watch what you eat and put on your face. If you have acne you are already aware of what ingredients are in your facial products. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. Products containing natural ingredients will least likely irritate your skin. If you wear makeup you may want to consider switching over to mineral makeup. Dermatologists are under the belief that mineral makeup can fully help alleviate your acne problems while enhancing the results of your acne diet.
