Acne Diet Development 101

An acne diet is a very interesting idea. After all, who has not heard the saying that chocolate gives you pimples? I believe we all have. As a result, it doesn't really sound that strange that you are what you eat.

However, an acne diet can be hard to create for a large number of people. This type of diet is highly personal since is is based on each individual's response to foods. There are guidelines, but your progress will largely be trial and error. Make sure you are keeping an eye on your skin. Keep a journal. You could even take pictures a few times a week. If and when your acne diminishes stick to the diet plan you are on at the time.

Here are a few instructions to help get you started on an acne diet:

* 1. Increase your protein intake - Some dermatologists believe that protein is associated with clearer skin. They believe this because protein has an enzyme in it that limits oil production. Oily skin tends to be more prone to breakouts.

* 2. Avoid carbohydrates - Do not take all carbs out of your diet. But you should try to limit your intake so that they are about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is why junk food has a reputation for causing acne. But actually junk food just is pretty high in carbs.

* Try to drink green tea - If possible, drink the real stuff. The best kind of green tea is the kind you brew yourself. However, if you really don't like it, then try the natural green tea drinks. Green tea will restrain the production of androgen. Breakouts can be caused by the hormone called androgen.

* Try to limit the amount of salt you intake - Iodine is usually found in salt. This is the reason why you hear table salt called “iodized salt.” Iodine is a major inflammatory agent in those with acne.

You must watch your diet and what you put on your face. You should know what ingredients are in your beauty products if you have acne. You should only use moisturizers without oil and natural and organic skin care products. Products containing natural ingredients will least likely irritate your skin. Mineral makeups are a good investment, if you wear makeup. Dermatologists are under the belief that mineral makeup can fully help alleviate your acne problems while enhancing the results of your acne diet.
