Stepping out to a great future

When one considers that an adult will walk approximately 185 000 kilometres in an average lifetime, it's as important to choose the right baby shoes at the outset as it is to choose the right hiking boots.
The foot comprises 26 bones and 35 joints which are supported by lots of ligaments. When babies are born, they only have 22 of these 26 bones in their feet - the remainder will develop as they grow up.A baby's foot bones are made from pliable, soft cartilage and are more prone to damage, and therefore their baby shoes need to provide appropriate protection.
Babies start walking anytime between eight and 18 months, with a new walker estimated to take around 170 steps a minute.  Now that’s a lot of walking for a little person – so the kid’s shoes had better fit properly and be comfy!
But how do you choose the right children’s shoes ?
First up, the shoe should be flexible and soft. And for the softest shoes, leather is always the best choice - and for kids' shoes handcrafted from sheepskin lleather with flexible rubber soles, the best choice is See Kai Run.
Based in the US, See Kai Run manufactures baby and children's shoes to the highest international functionality and health guidelines, and carries the prestigious seal of approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association. If you're in Australia or New Zealand, then all it takes for you to get your hands on See Kai Run's stylish children's shoes using their new dedicated website, is one or two easy... steps !
Children's shoes should be comfortable and secure, but should not feel like a tight fit.A one or two centimetre space between the end of the shoe and the toes is recommended. This gap should be checked regularly as children's feet do grow rapidly. If shoes don't fit properly, children could develop foot problems later on.
The child's foot should not slip in the shoe to prevent damage to the heel or toe.  Sandals should be securely strapped over the instep whilst closed shoes need soft collars for comfortable support.
The sole of the shoe should be flat and flexible, especially in the area where the ball of the foot sits. The inner edge of kids’ shoes should be as straight as possible to support the foot, and the heel cup should be firm and fit snugly.
A rounded toe is best for shoes, as it doesn't restrict movement of the toes.
See Kai Run has a vast range of kids' shoes for all seasons, offering three different ranges (0-18 months, 2 - 8 years and one for bigger kids up to eleven years).
Children’s feet only develop fully when they reach 16 to 18 years of age.Toeing the line when it comes to choosing baby shoes will be the best way to making sure your little one turns little steps into giant leaps.
